Pink isn’t particularly controversial. She was a well-respected pop star in the 2000s who continued to have chart success into the 2020s. However, a recent decision on social media sparked a strange story involving Diddy’s arrest. Pink deleted her Twitter account at a time that left fans wondering if she was hiding something. Rumors spread like wildfire online, with many fans speculating that Pink deleted her account in an attempt to remove evidence linking her to Diddy. In fact, the problem is so big that singers must address it.
Pink took to Instagram to explain the entire Twitter controversy. She posted a screenshot of the tweet that sparked the entire incident and provided context. “This account will self-destruct in two minutes,” the tweet read. Followers didn’t realize, or at least didn’t report it, that the account had been deleted months earlier. “I don’t know why I’m making headlines this week. But I deleted my Twitter account on February 6th,” the singer explained. “There is no truth to the rumors that have been circulating this week. While I have met some occasionally, I am not related to any of the people mentioned.”
Pink confirmed she deleted her account in February
The theory that Pink and Diddy were connected didn’t hold up in the first place. Although the artists have been together for more than thirty years, they have never collaborated on a song. The timing of the social media deletion also disproves any connection. Didi was arrested in early September. Fans seemed to have simply noticed that Pink’s account had been deleted and forced a link where there wasn’t one. Pink isn’t the only musician to have taken a social media cleanse recently.
Usher, an artist who was mentored by Diddy in the early 1990s, also recently deleted all of his tweets. The timing of the deletion is even more questionable, and similar to Pink, Usher felt the need to address fan speculation about his decision. The R&B singer claimed the tweets were deleted after his account was hacked. “The account was hacked and damn you all ran away with it,” he wrote. “See you tonight at the Intuit Dome.”
