Once known as the Neptunes, Pharrell and Chad Hugo defined an entire musical era with the uniqueness of their sound. Now, past financial differences have emerged.
Pharrell Williams is currently being sued by former partner Chad Hugo over accusations he claims his payments were withheld. According to Hugo (as Complex reported after reviewing official court documents), Hugo was the “primary composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist and producer responsible for programming, instrumentation and overall sound design” within Neptunes’ collaboration.
Hugo is convinced he has been unfairly treated financially and claims he has not received transparent accounting of company funds. On top of that, he claimed that his money was, in fact, withheld. How much? Well, according to the claim, he owes NERD at least $325,000, and possibly more than $1,000,000, for their No One Ever Very Dies album.
Previously, the two had launched a legal battle over the Neptune trademark. This will be their second legal match. What do you think?
