Twenty years after his breakthrough album People’s Champion was released, Paul Wall graduated from the ambassador of the Houston City. Over the past two decades, the former Swishahouse rapper has pushed H-Town’s Diamond-Grill wearing, tablet riding, 44 Tippin culture, and he shows no signs of giving up the campaign. Recently, Paul linked the album The Tonite Show with producer DJ from Oakland, California, to the latest version of the Fresh’s Collabry Project series. Paul and Fresh sat down with XXL, powered by Distrokid, conduct exclusive interviews and talk about their new projects and hip-hop.
DJ.Fresh invites Paul Wall to the Tonite Show
DJ.Fresh started his Tonite Show series in 2004 and has conducted joint projects with the Federation with artists such as Freddie Gibbs, Curren $Y, Raekwon, Raekwon, Trae Tha Tha Tha Tha Tha Chorn. After producing several tracks for Paul’s previous albums, once Grind (2024) and Big City (2023), the two decided to lock in a joint release.
“I love DJs,” Paul said of their working relationship. “He just brought life to the track. They will talk to you when he sends me beats. It’s like he’s passing frequency from another universe. ”
DJ.Fresh recorded the entire 13-song album on the simulation tape, and recorded Paul’s vocals on SSL, using real musicians to enhance the production. It shows the cohesion project of Southern adult contemporary hip-hop. In 2020, freshly learned music theory. Five years later, he ranks in the top 10% of the industry.

Fresh has been working on hip-hop since he was 9 years old. “I have a saying: A long road is a shortcut,” he said. “It just means that this is what we plan to do until we stop doing it and don’t do it anymore. It’s a process. We’re not rushing for it. We just trust it. The more you work for it, the more it will work for you.”
The rapper plans to be until the age of 80. “I’m very grateful for the many different paths and pathways and the many different branches on the hip-hop tree. Not only are the branches strong, the leaves strong, the fruit brings strong fruit, but there are a lot of people out there ready to eat food.”
Drake and 50 points of love Houston
In music, Paul is a respected figure in Houston, a city that has become a place where big rappers from other states are now calling home. A-List celebrities like 50 Cent and Drake recently purchased local homes and were found around town.
“We love it. Houston is not usually called a celebrity and will move to cities outside of Texas,” shared Paul Wall. “I grew up in an era when people thought Texas was nothing more than horses and cattle. To have major celebrities, the idol showed love to Houston, moved to Houston, moved to Houston, hell, yes, I liked it.”
