Court dates have been set for two alleged killers of Jan Dorf after gunman Justin Johnson was found guilty of murder on Thursday (September 26).
A hearing for alleged mastermind Hernandez Govan is scheduled for October 9. Cornelius Smith admitted his role in the murder during Johnson’s trial and is scheduled to return to court on November 15.
Johnson was convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Judge Jennifer Mitchell sentenced him to life in prison. Johnson’s attorneys plan to appeal.

Smith testified against Johnson, the gunman, on Monday (September 23). A plea deal has not been announced, but prosecutors have said Smith will serve prison time for Youngdorf’s murder.
Govan was expected to testify at Johnson’s trial, but he never did. Govan could still face trial. Shelby County Deputy District Attorney Paul Hagman insisted Govan will be punished for his role in Young Dorf’s death.
Johnson’s trial revealed that the plot to kill Jan Dorf was orchestrated by Yo Gotti’s late brother, Anthony “Big Jock” Mims. Govan recruited Johnson and Smith to film Young Dolph after Big Jook paid the rapper $100,000.
“We knew they hit Dolph in the head or something,” Smith testified. “Big Jock hit Dolph in the head or something. [Govan] Already told me this.
Johnson and Smith shot and killed Youngdorf in a Memphis bakery in November 2021.
