On Tuesday, Eminem took the stage at Kamala Harris and Tim Walz’s Detroit rally ahead of next month’s 2024 presidential election, and it was a pretty big moment.
The Detroit rapper introduced Obama at the event and told the cheering crowd: “I’m here tonight for a few reasons. As most of you know, the city of Detroit and my home state of Michigan mean so much to me. It means a lot. Going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever, and I think it’s important to make your voice heard, so I encourage everyone to get out and vote.
He continued, “I also think people shouldn’t be afraid to express their opinions, and I don’t think anyone wants an America where people fear retaliation or worry about what people will do if you express your opinion. I think Vice President Harris supports that. This and many other freedoms will be protected and preserved well into the future of this country.

Obama then took the stage and joked with the audience, “I gotta say, I go to a lot of rallies. So, I don’t usually get nervous, but I feel like I’m following Eminem.” He then went on to rap Eminem’s hit song “Lose Lyrics from “Yourself”: “Sweaty palms, weak knees/Arms heavy, spit on my sweater/Mom’s spaghetti/I’m nervous, but calm on the outside.”
“I thought Eminem was going to perform and I jumped.” Watch the video below.
