NLE The Great looked back at an old tweet he shared about suicide.
On December 6, the Memphis, Tennessee rapper shared a post on X discussing a concerning tweet he posted about suicide five years ago.
“I see this article reappearing all the time,” NLE posted over the weekend. “Just wanted to speak out, I am seriously preparing to bring about my own demise, and for those of you going through similar battles, I will keep going, overcome the trials, victory awaits you! The best thing I have never done is take my own life.”
Old post cited by NLE Originally shared on March 14, 2020.
“I will kill myself on the last day of December 2020 and you better enjoy me while you can,” NLE wrote at the time. “My music is out and I will be with you. I promise. My music will let you know everything you need to know. Love you.”
That June, the rapper’s daughter Clover was born. Two months later, he tweeted that he was no longer suicidal.
He wrote on the X: “I will not commit suicide on the last day of December.” He later cited the birth of his daughter as the reason for his change of heart.
In an interview with VladTV in 2022, NLE talked about the situation with the posts in question. He explained that he was going through a dark period in his life and that, combined with heavy drug use, made him feel like being alive no longer mattered.
