The 2025 Grammy Award nominations are finally here, and it’s a big day for women in music. Beyoncé leads all nominees regardless of gender with 11 nominations, the most nominations by a woman in a single year and the most total career nominations for an artist (currently 99). However, there are still some major snubs regarding these nominations, including a huge gap that many Barbz noticed, and understandably so. Nicki Minaj and her late 2023 album Pink Friday 2 didn’t receive any recognition despite submitting in multiple categories, including for songs like “Everybody” and “FTCU.” As you can see in the Instagram post and its comments below, many fans think this is a bad decision for the Recording Academy.
After all, Nicki Minaj had a huge hit with Pink Friday 2 , making it one of the biggest albums of the past year or so, especially commercially. Still, other Barbz are focusing on other amazing accomplishments this year and last (record-breaking tours, other awards, etc.) rather than bemoaning the lack of recognition from an institution. Furthermore, the Grammy Awards are not the ultimate recognition of quality, influential, and important music.

Some artists get a lot of love from the Grammys, some don’t, and some superstars don’t submit their work at all. With all of this in mind, we wonder if the Recording Academy will address these snubs, whether it’s Nicki Minaj or another artist. As for other hip-hop action at the Grammys, Kendrick Lamar leads the rap scene with a combined seven nominations for his two Drake diss songs. It’s certainly not the best look for any Recording Academy member who wants to combat the biased narrative of young money…
Jokes aside, Nicki Minaj doesn’t need a Grammy to acknowledge her generous presence in the gaming community, her untouchable status, and the blessings she continues to receive. For example, she recently wrote an adorable anniversary post for her husband, Kenneth Petty. Still, we can’t lie and say a few more flowers for the Trinidad femcee couldn’t hurt.
