Nicki Minaj and JAY-Z are not on good terms these days. The rapper accused Hough of failing to choose her mentor Lil Wayne to headline the Super Bowl halftime show. She also criticized the Roc Nation founder for not paying what she believed was due from the 2015 Tidal deal. Former Interscope CEO Steve Stoute tried to shed light on the Tidal deal on a recent podcast, but Nicki Minaj didn’t want to hear it. She doubled down on her problems and turned her anger toward the music executive.
Steve Stout discusses Nicki Minaj’s questionable Tidal deal on The Pivot Podcast. He claimed she failed to make the money she thought was owed to her because the paperwork wasn’t filled out correctly. “You didn’t sign those damn papers,” Stout explained. “That’s why you keep millions of dollars, that person didn’t do anything to you.” Stout defended JAY-Z’s role in the Tidal deal and went on to accuse Nicki Minaj of behaving in a way he believed is “wrong”. Mina didn’t waver. She feels she was misled by Hov and other members of the Tidal team. She said the same thing on Twitter.
Nicki Minaj claims she was ‘cheated’ out of $1 million
“I got a call advising Tidal to be sold,” Nicki Minaj tweeted after Stout’s podcast comments. “And they made no money on the deal, So all they can offer me is a million dollars. But wait, there’s more. Desirat told him if I wanted 1MM or the offer was off the table, the rapper went on to tell her fans. Her husband and his company essentially cheated her out of a huge payday she was promised long before the streaming platform was sold in 2021.
“I got scammed and they offered me a million dollars to shut up,” Nicki Minaj claims. “I said no. God’s grace is enough. I don’t need their hush money…” Minaj has been widely criticized for publicly attacking JAY-Z. However, as these tweets prove, she remains steadfast. She even tweeted lyrics from one of her 2014 songs, which seemed to address her “difficult” reputation. As far as she’s concerned, she’s right as long as she’s with people who are loyal to her. JAY-Z and Steve Stout did not make the cut.
