Nicki Minaj has launched a blistering attack on California Governor Gavin Newsom following his controversial “trans kids” comments, further elevating her public support for Republican politics and deepening her alliance with Donald Trump and JD Vance.
The Queens rapper didn’t hold back when responding to Newsom’s recent interview statement about wanting to “see trans kids.”
Nicki Minaj fired back on social media, writing: “Imagine you are someone who has always wanted to see trans kids. Haha. Not even trans adults do that. Regular adults wake up and think they want to see healthy, safe, happy kids…GavOUT.”
Imagine you are that person who has always wanted to meet a transgender child. Ha ha. Even trans adults don’t do this. The average adult wakes up thinking they want to see healthy, safe, happy children.

The post immediately went viral and thrust Nicki Minaj directly into the heated political debate surrounding policies for transgender youth.
Her attack on Newsom comes as California’s governor faces increasing scrutiny for his changing stance on transgender issues, especially after calling transgender women’s participation in women’s sports “grossly unfair” earlier this year.
Minaj’s criticism is her most direct political attack yet and marks a clean break with democratic politics. The timing coincides with her increasingly outspoken support for the Trump administration and the budding friendship with Vice President J.D. Vance.
Just days before Newsome’s attack, Nicki Minaj praised Vance as an “assassin” in light of her long-standing feud with Cardi B.
When Vance posted “Nicki>Cardi” on social media, Nicki Minaj responded enthusiastically: “Nothing brings me more joy than a Vance meme, knowing he’s into it like a boss. But make no mistake, Vance is an assassin. Don’t argue with him. On anything. As fast as a computer. Maybe faster.”

The rapper’s Republican transition has been months in the making.
She recently retweeted a White House TikTok video promoting Trump’s agenda, which included messages about “no men in women’s sports” and “illegal criminals will be deported,” which served as the backdrop to her 2012 hit song “Va Va Voom.”
Critics called out the hypocrisy of Minaj’s stance and pointed to her own immigration story. In a previous interview, Minaj revealed that she was illegally brought to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago when she was five years old.
Her support for Trump’s deportation policies has prompted accusations of betrayal of her own immigration experience.
Nicki Minaj’s political evolution came into focus last month when she addressed the U.S. mission to the United Nations on the persecution of Christians in Nigeria and was introduced by Ambassador Mike Waltz.
In her speech, she thanked Donald Trump for his leadership while saying: “It’s not about taking sides. It’s about standing up in the face of injustice.”
Nicki Minaj’s attack on Newsom on transgender issues puts her squarely in line with Republican talking points on LGBTQ+ rights.
Oh, Gavvy pooh, it’s only going to get worse for you from here, man.
This is the end of the road for you, my love.

Her remarks about wanting to see “healthy, safe, happy kids” while excluding trans children from the category drew sharp criticism from LGBTQ+ advocates, who accused her of perpetuating discrimination.
The rapper, who criticized Trump during his first term as president, has become one of Trump’s most high-profile celebrity supporters, using her massive platform to amplify conservative messages to her 25.5 million X followers.
Nicki Minaj woke up today, decided to spread propaganda about “trans kids,” and started attacking Gavin Newsom, who serves her new MAGA overlords.
I’m really embarrassed/ashamed to have supported this woman for so long 💀

Democrats are dumping Trump and Epstein photos on Congress, what will MAGA do to divert attention? Text Nicki Minaj to frontman Gavin Newsom talking about “trans kids”…typical and boring. I thought she hated RocNation doing these same stunts. Katie Johnson Case Files

I wonder how her trans fans feel about this, especially considering that not only has Gavin Newsom not made such a statement, but he is known for supporting anti-trans policies. So Nicki Minaj basically just insulted her trans audience for no reason 🥴 https://t.co/tR9WX9x7yD https://t.co/ZkWFsgYTl8

When you realize how stupid Nicki Minaj’s fans are, she’s comparing Gavin Newsom to Donald Trump. God, you really don’t understand politics. OMG her fan base is f###### stupid https://t.co/afVOQ0TqYB
