NBA YoungBoy was reportedly sentenced after accepting a plea deal in a federal gun case that was moved from his home state of Louisiana to Utah.
The rapper, who spent months in custody following his arrest in April, now knows his fate. According to celebrity attorney Bradford Cohen, NBA YoungBoy was sentenced to 27 months in prison. However, due to the length of his service, Cohen believes he may be able to return home sooner.
“Standing up for what’s right is a bad habit of mine,” Cohen wrote on Instagram. “The global defense period is 27 months… The credit period will be completed within 12 months… Counsel has done a great job in successfully resolving this matter.”
The attorney’s post also noted that YoungBoy was sentenced to five years of probation. Cohen, who also serves as Kodak Black’s attorney, predicted the verdict weeks ago, arguing that “Utah’s case is weak and the federal case is running into all kinds of trouble.”

NBA YoungBoy pleaded guilty on August 14 to unlawful possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. Charged with possession of a firearm.
While the gun registration charges were dismissed in March, Utah authorities filed prescription drug fraud charges against him in April. Cache County authorities accused the rapper of illegally obtaining promethazine and codeine from a Utah pharmacy.
The following month, Weber County authorities filed additional charges against NBA YoungBoy, including possession of a firearm by a restricted person. He was also charged with two counts of fraudulently obtaining a prescription.
