Nas has been announced as executive producer of “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda’s new concept album, inspired by the cult film “Warrior.”
The album will be called Warriors and Miranda collaborated on 26 tracks with singer Eisa Davis and producer Mike Elizondo, known for his work with Dr. Dre and Eminem.
According to a press release, Warriors “features a star-studded voice cast,” which will be revealed ahead of the album’s release on October 18.
Miranda and Davis said in a statement: “For the past three years, we have been musicalizing the Warriors’ journey home from the South Bronx to Coney Island. Along the way, we have collaborated with many of our favorite We’ll be announcing their role on the album in the coming weeks and we can’t wait to share these songs with you on October 18th.
The album, like the 1979 film starring James Remar and David Patrick Kelly, will tell the story of Warriors, a Coney Island-based The gangs of the base, they must fight and try to defeat the other gangs of New York over a long night.
It’s unclear whether Nas will appear on the album in addition to serving as executive producer.
Miranda and Nas previously collaborated on the Hamilton Mixtape, with the Queensbridge legend appearing on Wrote My Way Out.
This Warriors-inspired project is far from the only big Nurse-related news of late.
The rapper recently revealed that he and DJ Premier will be collaborating on an album that will be released later this year.
The longtime collaborators revealed the news in May when they dropped the project’s lead single, “Define My Name.”
Behind-the-scenes footage posted on social media captures the moment Nas told Premo he wanted to make the album.
The two can be seen working in the studio together when the legendary producer asks Nas, “So are you going to release another album?” — a reference to his prolific collaboration with Hit-Boy, which produced six albums in four years.
The Queensbridge rap legend responded: “With Premier,” surprising the producer, who responded enthusiastically: “Oh, okay!”
