Mystikal pleaded guilty to third-degree rape that occurred after his 2022 arrest.
In 2022, the rapper, whose real name is Michael Taylor, was accused of robbing, assaulting and strangling a woman at his Ascension Parish residence. The victim said Taylor stole her phone and keys and prevented her from leaving. She was then raped against her will while searching for her missing money.
After the assault, the rapper allegedly forced the woman to send him money via CashApp before letting her leave. He pleaded guilty Tuesday in state court outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana, according to local reports.
The charges against him include first-degree rape, simple criminal damage to property, domestic violence strangulation, simple robbery and false imprisonment in connection with the assault. He entered a plea to an amended charge of third-degree rape.
Taylor faces up to 20 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for June. If he was found guilty of the original charges, he would have been sentenced to life in prison.
Taylor faced similar charges after sexually assaulting his hairstylist in 2004. He spent six years in prison after his arrest and registered as a sex offender upon his release.
