Mustard is gearing up for the release of his Faith of a Mustard Seed album later this month, and he’s sharing perhaps the album’s most personal track — one that finds him standing in addition to standing behind a wooden board Behind the microphone.
The Cali beatmaker released “Pray For Me” on Friday (July 12), marking his first rap on the record.
In the song, Mustard talks about his family and friends – both those who are still alive and those who have passed away.
“I always said I would never rap a song,” he told XXL. “I feel like people have never heard my story.
“But I feel like now is the perfect time to explain to you what I’ve been through over the past five years.
“I’ve always wanted to talk about something that’s real to me, and even if you don’t like rap, you really do, understand that he’s talking about some real shit, and he’s talking about it honestly and being vulnerable.”

Last month, Mustard revealed that The Faith of the Mustard Seed takes its title from the late Nipsey Hussle.
While working on the title track for the producer’s last album, 2019’s The Perfect Ten, Nipsey suggested Mustard name the album Faith Of A Mustard Seed. However, the producers had already locked in on the said title at the time.
“and [Nipsey] Like, ‘Before it’s all said and done, you have to do Mustard Seed Faith,'” he recalled.
When the West Coast beatmaker started working on the new project, he actually had a different title in mind (which he may still be using), but when he tried out Luther Vandross’ cut he knew the title Nip suggested made sense. , because his mother is a huge fan of the singer.
Faith Of A Mustard Seed will be released on July 26, and the game will be distributed through a new partnership with BMG.
“I’m delighted to be working with BMG, a company known for its commitment to fostering artistic independence, integrity and innovation,” Mustard said in a statement to Billboard. “Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of creativity and deliver groundbreaking music that resonates with audiences around the world.”
