Dame Dash is facing growing financial pressure as more of its assets are set to be auctioned to resolve outstanding debts. Last month, Dash’s one-third stake in Roc-A-Fella Records sold for $1 million at a federal auction in Manhattan. The money, while substantial, was not enough to cover his extensive financial obligations. The sale was prompted by a series of judgments against Dash, including an award of $823,284.71 to filmmaker Josh Webber and Muddy Water Pictures.
The lawsuit stems from claims of unpaid debt and Dash’s alleged attempt to seize control of the movie “Dear Frank.” Proceeds from the sale of Roc-A-Fella were quickly distributed among creditors. The city received $193,877.57 to pay Dash’s past-due child support and $1,702,626.34 to pay off his massive state tax debt of more than $8 million. Despite the distributions, Weber and Muddy Waters Pictures, along with other creditors including cinematographer Monique Bunn and writer Edwina Brooks, remain unpaid.
Dame Dash faces more lawsuits, property up for auction
Court documents show that Dash’s financial problems may soon intensify. His Poppington LLC business and the rights to several films he has produced may also face auctions. Titles at risk include “We Wet to… China,” “Welcome to Blackroc” and “Honor Up.” These projects form the core of Popington LLC and air on Dash’s America Nu television network.
The legal and financial implications highlight the complexity of Dame Dash’s situation. As creditors compete for a share of limited funds, those with higher priority, such as the State of New York, may gain priority. Meanwhile, Mrs. Dash’s future as a media entrepreneur hangs in the balance, with key works in his catalog likely to disappear as debts are paid off. The sale of Roc-A-Fella Records marks a symbolic moment in the music mogul’s financial decline. This seems to be just the beginning of his arduous journey to fulfill his obligations.
