Dame Dash is “clarifying” why he appeared in R. Kelly’s “Fiesta (Remix)” music video despite his ex-girlfriend Aaliyah telling him the R&B singer assaulted her.

In a recent interview with America Nu Network, the Roc-A-Fella co-founder explained the reason for his appearance in the video “given the industry’s” knowledge of R. Kelly.
“I didn’t want any part of it, and I told them I didn’t want a dollar from it,” he said, claiming Aaliyah was aware he appeared in the visual but didn’t want to cause a conflict.
“What she said to me was, ‘I don’t want to cause any trouble. I just want to heal and stay as far away from it as possible,'” he added. “She asked me not to appear in any scenes [R. Kelly] Or take a picture with him, I respect that.
He continued, “I shot with Jay, but I didn’t appear in any scenes with R. Kelly,” he said. “You’ll never see me in a picture with him.”

“I’ve answered this question before, but here it is again,” Dame wrote in a clip from the interview on Instagram. “When Jay chose to continue working with R. Kelly, I told Aaliyah. Her response was clear – she just wanted to heal, avoid any drama, and move forward in peace. So when it came to the Carnival video, I made sure I Not in any scenes or photos with R. Kelly. Unless it’s a scene with me and Jay, I’m just in the trailer.
The issue stems from a previous conversation on America Nu, where Dame claimed that Hov’s decision to work with R. Kelly on a collaborative album, The Best of Both Worlds, led to the breakdown of his relationship with JAY-Z.
