Mother Sean Kingston charged with fraud and theft
Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, have been charged with more than $1 million in fraud and fraud, according to a report published by WSVN 7 News on Friday (May 24). Theft charges include stealing money, jewelry, furniture and a Cadillac Escalade.
In Broward County Sheriff’s Jail documents obtained by XXL, Kingston’s 61-year-old mother was slapped with a slew of charges, including organizing a conspiracy to defraud, theft, cashing bad checks and identity theft. She is currently being held in the Broward County Jail with bail set at $160,000. Kingston faces the same charges.
Turner was arrested on Thursday (May 23) after a SWAT team raided the singer’s rented mansion in suburban Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Meanwhile, Kingston was arrested at Fort Irwin, an Army training base in California’s Mojave Desert, after performing the show.
Arrest warrants say the pair stole nearly $500,000 worth of jewelry between October and March, WSVN 7 News reported. In addition, they are accused of stealing more than $200,000 from Bank of America, $160,000 from a Cadillac Escalade car dealership, more than $100,000 from First Republic Bank, $86,000 from a custom bed manufacturer, and impersonating Use someone else’s identity.

Sean Kingston jailed, awaiting extradition
Sean Kingston, born Kisean Paul Anderson, is currently being held at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, California. Prison inmate records show the singer is listed as a fugitive. The “Beautiful Girls” singer is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday (May 28). Kingston is expected to face extradition proceedings in Florida.
Robert Rosenblatt, an attorney representing the Jamaican-American actor and his mother, told WSVN 7 News on Friday (May 24) that his clients are prepared to face the charges.
“We look forward to addressing these (allegations) in court and are confident we can successfully resolve these matters [Sean] And his mother,” Rosenblatt said.
In addition to his arrest, Kingston and his mother were charged.
In 2015, a New York City watch seller successfully brought legal action against Kingston and his mother in federal court, seeking $356,000 in damages for nonpayment. In 2018, a New York jeweler successfully sued two people for $301,000 after they defrauded the store of nine items.
Most recently, a Florida entertainment systems company took legal action against Kingston in February 2024, claiming he failed to pay $120,000 of a $150,000 invoice for a large 232-inch television installed in his home. The huge TV measures approximately 17 feet by 9.5 feet and takes up an entire wall.
According to the lawsuit, Kingston allegedly promised the owners that he and Bieber would create ads for them if they agreed to low down payments and credit. However, neither ads nor payments materialized. Lawyers for the company said Bieber was not involved in the deal and Kingston used his name falsely.
