The Miami Beach Commission has canceled Brag Day for the City of Miami.
Miami cancels bragging day amid sexual assault allegations
The Miami Herald reported last Wednesday (June 27) that the Miami Beach Commission rescinded a proclamation declaring October 13, 2016, “Sean Diddy Combs Day.” The disgraced hip-hop mogul’s South Beach mansion was raided three months ago in a federal sex trafficking investigation.
Diddy originally received the honor in 2016 from then-Mayor Philip Levine and the City Council at the third annual Revolt Music Conference. At the heart of the decision to cancel Puff Day, representatives cited a 2016 video leaked to the media that depicted Diddy beating his then-ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.
Diddy later apologized for her inexcusable behavior in the film.
“After careful consideration, the Mayor and City Council have determined that designating October 13, 2016 as ‘Shawn Diddy Combs Day’ is no longer consistent with the City’s values of safety, community well-being and respect and wish to rescind the proclamation,” ” the committee’s board of directors issued a statement.

Some of Diddy’s honorary titles revoked
The Miami Beach Commission was one of the few agencies to revoke the honorary title given to Dee Dee.
Last month, Diddy had to return the honorary keys to New York City. The honor was awarded to the music executive in September 2023 in recognition of his career in music. In early June, Mayor Eric Adams sent Dee Dee a letter asking him to return the keys. Mayor Adams said in a letter to Diddy that he was “deeply disturbed” by the leak of the Casey video and strongly condemned the actions in the video.
Deputy Mayor for Communications Fabien Levy told XXL in a statement that the letter was sent on June 4 and Didi returned the keys on June 10.
Also in June, Howard University’s university newspaper, The Hilltop, reported that Howard University in Washington, D.C., voted to revoke Didi’s honorary degree. Additionally, the board voted to terminate the Sean Combs Foundation’s long-term agreement in 2023 and return his $1 million donation.
