Miami Beach has rescinded its proclamation designating October 13, 2016, as Sean “Diddy” Combs Day. The Miami Beach Commission revoked the honor without debate on Wednesday (June 26), the Miami Herald reported.
Bragging day was canceled just weeks after New York took back his keys to the city. New York officials asked Diddy to return the keys in response to footage of Diddy beating ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
“The Keys to the City of New York are awarded to individuals who have served the public and the common good to the highest degree and who have served as role models to fellow New Yorkers and future New Yorkers,” Mayor Eric Adams wrote. “After internal deliberations, the Keys to the City of New York committee recommends the repeal of and revoke Mr. Combs’ keys. I have accepted their recommendation and requested that Mr. Combs immediately return his city keys to the Mayor’s Office at New York City Hall.
In November 2023, Cassie sued Diddy for rape and years of abuse.
In the past seven months, more women and a producer named Lil Rod have sued Diddy for sexual assault and other accusations. In March, the Department of Homeland Security raided the home of the founder of Bad Boy Records.
The notorious mogul’s mother, Voletta Wallace, condemned her son’s longtime collaborator in May. She was disturbed by reports of widespread abuse and footage of Cassie’s attack.
“I would love to meet Sean one day and all I want to do is knock him out of the park – you can quote me on that,” Wallace said. “Because I like him. I don’t want to believe all the horrible things, but I felt so ashamed and embarrassed.
The federal government has been investigating Diddy’s sex trafficking practices. Investigators are reportedly seeking to bring the accuser before a grand jury.
