A Miami barber who was at the center of a viral storm and suffered a near-death experience after a disagreement over a haircut at his shop is speaking out.
Samuel Wilson, owner of The Square Cutz Barbershop, was giving a client a routine trim when the conversation turned tense over the hairline. Moments later, the man returned with a gun, pointed it at Wilson and physically assaulted him while two children were nearby.
The entire confrontation was captured on video and circulated on Instagram, Facebook and other platforms, garnering thousands of views and reactions.
“He was not a man when he had that gun,” Wilson told local 10 News. “He hit me on the head with it and choked me.”
The video shows the man becoming visibly irritated on camera before walking out and then rushing in with a gun. As Wilson attempts to deescalate the situation, a second customer can be seen trying to intervene.
“I didn’t expect him to come here and come back,” Wilson said. “I thought we might have a fight, but I didn’t think he was going to come back with a gun. I told him, have a good day, man.”
Wilson said he had cut the man’s hair many times “before” but never expected the situation to turn violent. The customer was reportedly wearing a county-issued uniform, adding confusion to an already surreal moment.
The video’s rapid spread sparked widespread outrage, primarily among children who witnessed the armed confrontation. The panic in the video only intensified calls for police to act quickly.
Despite the trauma, Wilson said his five-year commitment to the community remains unchanged.
“This is a safe place for anyone to be,” he said. “I hold no grudge,” Wilson added. “I can’t say I can forgive him. But I hope you’re OK, man. Have a great day and a great life.”
As of now, no arrests have been confirmed.
