A verdict has been reached in Megan Thee Stallion’s defamation lawsuit against blogger Milagro “Gramz” Cooper.
On Monday (December 1), a jury in Miami federal court found Milagro “Gramz” Cooper guilty of defamation, promoting a sexual depiction and intentionally inflicting emotional distress after two days of deliberation. Legal reporter Megan Cunniff shared the news in multiple tweets.
“The jury found Milagro responsible for defaming Megan Thee Stallion, intentionally inflicting emotional distress by coordinating with Tory Lanez, and promoting the deepfake video,” Cunniff wrote on Twitter. “They gave different answers to the media’s questions but concluded that, yes, Milagro met media qualifications.”
Cuniff reported “minimal damages: $75,000, including penalties.”
Last Wednesday (November 26), closing arguments concluded. Cooper’s attorney, Jeremy McClymont, spoke about Cooper’s upbringing, saying she capitalized on personalities she saw as a child and created her media image, while Meghan’s attorney, John O’Sullivan, cited Tory Lanez’s crimes. Both sides rested their cases for the day, leaving the verdict to the jury. Before announcing its verdict, the jury asked multiple follow-up questions about the specific exhibits and Florida’s “deepfake” video statutes.
Meghan sued Cooper in October 2024, accusing him of defamation, promotion of altered sexual depictions and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Meghan accused the blogger of colluding with Tory Lanez and her father, Sonstar Peterson, to harass Meghan online and discredit her account of being shot by Tory in the summer of 2020. The smear campaign allegedly included spreading false rumors and sharing false videos depicting Meghan engaging in sexual acts.
During the trial, Meghan testified that the negativity surrounding the fake video made her feel like she didn’t care whether she lived or died. Her manager, Travis Farris, also testified that the Houston rapper attended a treatment program to cope with the trauma.
Tory Lanez is not a defendant in the lawsuit. However, he was dismissed from prison for the case. These testimonies turned out to be unproductive. During first testimony, Conservatives pretended IdwarfLance talks about common sense and pokes fun at Meghan’s lawyers. As a result, the judge ordered him to pay Meghan’s legal fees and appear in court to give a second deposition.
According to reports, during the second testimony on November 14, Conservative refused to answer questions and angrily walked out of the interview, and was eventually fined $20,000. In January, Meghan successfully obtained a five-year restraining order against an incarcerated rapper who was convicted of shooting her in 2022 and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
