The week is finally over. Thankfully, that means there’s plenty of new music to fill your weekend. This week, a Houston rapper returns with a highly anticipated new project, a Chicago lyrical veteran takes up the mic again, an Atlanta rapper joins forces with a British singer-producer for an experimental show, and more.

Megan Thee Stallion releases Megan’s self-titled album

After going head-to-head with Nicki Minaj after releasing her single “Hiss” in January, Megan Thee Stallion is finally Getting ready for the release of her full-length Megan album. The album contains 18 songs, including last November’s single “Hiss” and Meg’s “Cobra.” The LP also includes her May single “Boa” and features appearances from UGK, GloRilla and Victoria Monet.

Lupe Fiasco drops samurai

Lupe Fiasco returns with his ninth studio album Samurai. The eight-track release includes the Chicago rapper’s singles “Samurai” and “Cake,” which were released in May and June respectively. Lupe has been working on the album since at least 2020, when he revealed he was developing a project inspired by the late Amy Winehouse. The singer used the term to describe battle rap lyrics she was writing at the time, and inspired Lupe to do the same.

“Bad Cameo Project” by Lil Yachty and James Blake Link

Lil Yachty and James Blake are collaborating on a feature film project called “Bad Cameo.” Details are still scarce on what fans can expect from the project, and the pair haven’t even released any lead singles to promote it. However, Yachty described the project as ethereal and experimental, and said he connected with Blake after the producer listened to Yachty’s psychedelic album Let’s Start Here. While fans didn’t know what to expect, Black has worked with hundreds of rap artists, so Lil Boat is in good hands.
