Master P released a statement praising Kendrick Lamar for starring in the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans. However, the rap mogul also wants Lil Wayne to join in on the festivities.
Master P supports K-Dot to make Super Bowl headlines, hopes Lil Wayne will join in
On Sunday (September 8), Kendrick Lamar announced that he will host Apple Music’s Super Bowl LIX halftime on February 9, 2025 at The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. At the time of the show, Master P released a statement on his Instagram page. Opportunity as a halftime performer.
P Master, who has been named the “Entertainment Ambassador” for the Super Bowl in New Orleans, praised Kendrick for being named the Super Bowl halftime headliner in a statement, but also thought Lil Wayne should be a part of the festivities as well.
“Salute to @kendricklamar for his performance at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show. He is well deserved, he is one of the hottest music artists in the world and has one of the hottest songs right now,” Master P’s statement began.
“As an entertainment ambassador for the city of New Orleans, I have to agree with the fans that @liltunechi #LilWayne should be a part of this celebration,” he continued. “He was one of the greatest [hip-hop] The artist is alive, still influential, and he’s a New Orleans native.
“Let us not miss this cultural moment in the South. Life is too short! We must pay tribute to our legends while they are still here,” he concluded.
Master P also added, “Change starts with us,” and tagged the NFL, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, and Jay-Z to make sure they saw his statement.

Kendrick Lamar to headline 2025 Super Bowl halftime show
Earlier this afternoon (September 8), Kendrick shared a promotional video officially announcing his 2025 Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans on February 9, 2025. There is only one chance.
Kenny will be the first solo rapper to headline the event since the Black Eyed Peas headlined the event as a group at Super Bowl XLV in 2011.
Jay-Z’s Roc Nation will co-produce the halftime show, and creative direction for Kendrick’s performance will be handled by pgLang, the creative agency founded by K-Dot and longtime collaborator and filmmaker Dave Free.
“Rap music remains the most influential genre of music ever created. I will be there to remind the world why. They found the right thing,” Kung Fu Kenny said in a press statement.
Kendrick previously performed at the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and 50 Cent.
