Quality Control rapper Marlo was killed five years ago and the incident remains a cold case.
Marlowe was found shot to death inside a crashed car on Interstate 285 in Atlanta on July 11, 2020, leaving police with more questions than answers in the years since. On October 24, Fox 5 News Atlanta reported on the case, revealing that someone had provided information about the crime and the police currently had no suspects.
“It’s been a rough five years,” Marlowe’s father, Rudolph Johnson, told the news outlet. “We’re not closed yet.”
Police said Marlowe was in the studio on the day of his death. He was shot around 11:30 p.m. While there have been no developments in the case, police say Marlowe was the intended target of the shooting.
“We’re not going to let this situation get swept under the rug,” Johnson said. “No, I’m not going to do that. I’m going to go out and make as much noise as I can so this case can be solved.”
Marlo signed a deal with Quality Control in 2017 and has a close relationship with Lil Baby. Marlo subsequently released five mixtapes with the label, including his debut album with Lil Baby, 2 the Hard Way.
Marlo was one of several rappers to tragically lose their lives in 2020, including MF Doom, Pop Smoke, King Von, Fred The Godson, FBG Duck, and more.
