Madd Maxxx Celebrates His Birthday By Releasing His Best Ep

This is the sixth EP from Brockton, Massachusetts emcee Madd Maxxx. As a member of the group Mission: Infect, he has also self-released a few full-length albums as well as mixtapes and his previous 5 EPs, the last LP being his third album, although Dirtcore Music’s debut Kaleidscope became his first to date. His most powerful work to date, he returns on the day he was born, once again condensing Dirtcore 24 into five 12 and a half minute tracks, ready for a full length sometime in the future.

After the “Keep It Dirtcore” intro, the first song “Terrifying” produced by J. Reno kicks off the EP, with a trap vibe instrumental telling us why his shit he’s cold, while “Diary of a Madd Man” Then switch to boom bap lane targeting every sideshow rapper who thinks he can hit him when he’s right. “Shinobi Stance” continues to deliver hardcore lyricism with some synths and kick and snare drums from Dirtcore Music founder Crossworm, while closer “Rat Race” ruthlessly talks about Dirtcore being the leader of hip-hop’s zombie horde .

M: I just put out their fantastic comeback EP arM:Igeddon earlier this spring and not only is it my favorite Maxxx’ EP, but I’d even say it’s second only to last year’s Kaleidoscopy as my 2 top picks , if you would like to participate in Madd Maxxx’s solo work. Crossworm and J. Reno both canceled their respective shares of Dirtcore 24’s production, while Maxxx avoided having any guests join him so he could control the lyrical side himself, and he succeeded in that. I’m even more interested in Mission: Infect member Mumm Ra’s upcoming album, although Dirtcore Music’s debut album will be out on Autogod in a few weeks.

Rating: 9/10
