Macklemore may have taken his political career a little too far during a recent Seattle concert at the Seward Park Amphitheater.
Dubbed the Palestine Day of Eternal Life, the event aims to raise funds for several organizations, including the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), an independent 501c3 non-profit organization that provides funding for the United Nations’ humanitarian efforts. support. At one point during the show, he encouraged the audience to join him in chanting “F### America.”
“Just say it,” he said. “I’m not going to stop you. I’m not going to stop you. Yeah, F#### America!

The backlash was swift and strong. Many people began posting comments such as “He has long been anti-Semitic” in the comments section of the video. TikTok convinces younger generations that America is bad. This is the brainwashing of a generation. If he hates it here so much, why doesn’t he leave? No one stopped him. He just loves the attention.
“He’s happy to receive the dollars though. Hypocrite,” wrote another, while another said, “Well then give up your one privilege in America and all the money you’ve made in this capitalist country -Give it back to the Americans who support you and get out of America! Those ungrateful celebrities who spit on the country that made them celebrities are the worst kind of trash! Stop talking to the rest of us! People preached.
Macklemore released Hinds Hall in May and donated all proceeds to UNRWA. The song was inspired by the work of Columbia University student protesters who occupied Hamilton Hall on campus and renamed it “Hind Hall.” Last week, he directly called out Vice President Kamala Harris on “Hinds Hall 2.”
“Hey Kamala, I don’t know if you’re listening/But stop sending money and weapons or you can’t win Michigan,” he raps in the third verse. “We’re not committed, no, we’re not going to change our stance / Because the whole world has become Palestine / I see them murdering children in Gaza, I see my children / lives taken away by the bombs we make.”
Macklemore has become increasingly outspoken about the current conflict. Last month, he canceled a concert in Dubai over the United Arab Emirates’ role in Sudan’s “ongoing genocide and humanitarian crisis.” He has yet to respond to the pushback he received for his remarks at the Seattle show.
