Machine Gun Kelly was looking forward to finally attending Coachella this year after allegedly being banned from attending it since 2012, but father-daughter time will take priority .
The Cleveland native explained in a Friday (April 12) post on Twitter/ , then April 20 and 21).
He also said they banned him in 2012 – for reasons he didn’t know.
“Never been to Coachella, for whatever reason they banned me in 2012, I was looking forward to finally going this year, but my daughter’s volleyball tournament ends the same day so you guys have to understand how that goes, She comes first,” he said.
As Billboard points out, MGK called the festival a “huge joke” in a 2012 tweet — which may have something to do with him finding out he was banned.
“Coachella is a huge joke,” he wrote a week after the 2012 festival. “That’s what this fucking company is, they only accept what’s accepted but fake, just like they don’t. It’s a shame music is so popular now.”

Late last month, Machine Gun Kelly and Trippie Redd released a surprise collaborative EP called Genre: Sad Boy . The 10-track project features JID and is produced by SlimXX, BazeXX, Ronny J and more.
On lead single “Lost Boys,” MGK struggled with suicidal thoughts and detailed his battle with depression, singing: “Bloodshot, blue eyes, I recorded two tonight/One for all my love for people who commit suicide/Everything inside is blue, you and me/Everyone around you won’t say how they feel about you until you die.”
Elsewhere in the song, he mentions heartbreak, possibly referring to his high-profile relationship with Megan Fox.
“I’m rich, but still wild/I’m rich, but I’m unhappy/I wish I was back in the days when I wore a torn shirt with my hat backwards/Now I’m alone in a vamp castle, I”I Tell myself this is the last capsule/But why would I want to live to see her with someone at Art Basel? So I…” he raps.
The pair also released a mini-documentary giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the EP, which can be watched here .
