Lizzo faces with Yung Miami after commenting on her recent weight loss online.
The show unfolded when Miami appeared on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast last week. She mentioned Lizzo when she discussed the social pressure on women to change appearance through beauty procedures.
Yuan Miami mentions Lizzo’s recent physical transformation. “Everyone likes it, ‘Oh my god, she’s so fat.” “She looks good now. Now it’s like, ‘Oh my god, ew.’ … choose a side. What do you want?”
Lizzo was obviously troubled by the comments from “EW” and decided to call Miami directly during the weekend’s Twitch Live to clarify what she meant.
Lizzo asked Miami about the intention behind her comments, especially the reaction she mentioned.
In response to Lizzo’s concerns, Yung Miami clarified her intentions. “Everyone [says] You look good, but you have 5% of 5% small, like “She looks better when she is fat,” she explains.
The former city woman rapper then emphasized that her comments were not about criticizing Lizzo in person, but about the impossible standards women faced in their bodies.
“I’m just citing…you can’t do it [everybody] Happy,” Miami said.
Meanwhile, Lizzo transitions from body positive to body neutrality, embracing a more personal and evolving perspective on self-image.
In an interview with The New York Times in March 2024, she explained that physical positivity deviates from its original intention and is now “developing into physical neutrality.”
Lizzo prioritizes health over aesthetics, focusing on a balanced lifestyle rather than a fixed weight. She advocates embracing her body at any size while fostering overall well-being and longevity.
She also believes that body-positive exercise has become a “code word for fat” rather than an authorized message.
