Myaap and Yonaa: “Choppa Sound”
I look forward to a low-end rapper team in Milwaukee the same way some people look forward to NBA stars playing together in the Olympics. This time it’s Myaap, the self-proclaimed “Dancing Queen” from District 414, and Yonaa, the younger sister of a certified catcher. Yonaa’s tongue is spicier than her brother’s, but she has the same homemade feel. On “Choppa Sound,” they dance together to Buck’s wild beat, which sounds like one of the old Ching Team GarageBand instruments used at Milwaukee dance competitions, and switch back and forth in turbo mode. They sounded like they were fighting over the microphone in the booth to see who could give the most twerking instructions. It’s a draw.
With artists releasing songs at a fast and furious pace, it can be difficult for the average hip-hop artist to keep track of them all—no matter how dedicated they are. That’s why we created “The Ones,” a daily post to highlight the songs you need to hear.
