Lil Yachty fired back at criticism of his Nike Air Force 1 collaboration while speaking on the ComplexCon 2024 Sneaker of the Year panel over the weekend. Bimma Williams, who participated in the event, recently shared a video online in which she insulted Yachti several times. He mentioned Yachty’s recent admission that he had just listened to JAY-Z’s “Reasonable Doubt” and “The Black Album,” while downplaying his status as a sneakerhead.
“Everyone has an opinion on sneakers,” Yachty said, as Complex points out. “So if I want to make an air force and I want it to be white and blue – if you don’t like it, that’s cool, but he’s trying to make it look like ‘This n***a can’t be made Shoes, because he disrespects the culture. What the hell are you talking about? I’ve been obsessed with sneakers for 15 years and I had 5 cents to my name. What are you talking about? Clearly unaware of my history with sneakers or my level of involvement in the matter.
