Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar’s conflict is an interesting addition to the Drake and Lamar battle. Lamar has made it clear that he has no respect for the Six Gods in any way. Lil Wayne, on the other hand, is someone he grew up listening to. He even rapped about the irony of disappointing Weezy on the first song of his new album, GNX. Fans debated whether the reference was a taunt to Wayne or a tacit admission that he would be performing the Super Bowl halftime show in Lil Wayne’s hometown. Well, Weezy finally gave his two cents on the matter.
Lil Wayne explained what happened between him and Kendrick Lamar on The Skip Bayless Show. He absolved the Compton rapper of any wrongdoing during his upcoming Super Bowl halftime show. The fact that Dot mentioned his name on the Vach Fresco did not make him feel slighted. “I used to hit Carter III all the time and I was proud of my Raleigh chain,” Lamar spits. “Ironically, I think I let Lil Wayne down with my efforts.” Lil Wayne clarified that he hadn’t actually heard the song before his interview with Bayless. However, when the lyrics were read to him, he took it as a sign of mutual respect.

“He’s a fan, just like I’m a fan,” the rapper said. “He saw what it meant to me as much as anybody. I think that’s what he meant.” Lil’ Wayne said he understood what Lamar meant, especially regarding his effort. “I understand those words,” Weezy assured the host. “He’s successful… His hard work is the reason why he’s successful.” Given that Kendrick Lamar called Wayne “the greatest” in a 2022 interview with The Coveteur, Wayne’s response to the song The sincere interpretation of the song is very meaningful.
The Compton rapper, who collaborated with Wayne on “Mona Lisa” in 2018, told the outlet that Weezy’s impact on hip-hop culture is immeasurable. “To this day, we’re both huge Lil Wayne fans,” he explains. “Lil Wayne is the greatest. Not just because of his music, but because of the culture behind him. That’s a big part of what he talks about, so we always have a lot of respect for Wayne.” Wayne at Twitter responded to the interview by calling Lamar a “real person.”
