Lil Uzi Vert fans are upset with them. The release of Eternal Atake 2 was more critically acclaimed than the album itself. The follow-up to his 2020 album was considered by many to be a huge disappointment, especially considering the hype it had already received. Some consider this to be the worst version of Uzi Vert to date. Now that the dust has settled, though, fans are already cooking up theories about its release. Lil Uzi Vert put these theories together on November 11th. They posted a photo of Frank Ocean on their Instagram Stories.
Frank Ocean is an elusive artist. No one knows what the singer-songwriter is up to, let alone when he plans to return with a new album. He hasn’t dropped out since 2016, not even making an appearance on his good friend Tyler (The Creator’s) new album. Lil Uzi Vert posted a photo of Ocean without a background, which was a strange move, but the background provided made fans more interested. The next one written on Ocean’s photo is: “Chief Financial Officer.” Lil Uzi Vert didn’t elaborate on how/why Frank Ocean became the “CFO” (also known as “chief financial officer”), but fans have concocted a theory.
Lil Uzi Vert seems to cite the ocean as an influence
A popular theory online is that Uzi Vert took a page from Frank Ocean’s playbook. Fans suspected the rapper dropped “Eternal Atake 2” to fulfill his record deal. It’s not that they feel it’s a decisive job. Ocean employed a similar strategy in 2016, when he released Endless to complete his Def Jam deal, then turned around and dropped Blonde a day later. Uzi Vert evoked Ocean through the word “CFO,” leading fans to wonder if they acknowledged Ocean’s influence over their record deals.
Lil Uzi Vert’s desire to release music more frequently supports this theory. They said the same thing in a recent interview with Rolling Stone . “Yeah. I was on my way. I wasn’t even lying,” they explained. “A few minutes ago they thought I was lying. Now the tape is here and everyone’s like, ‘You didn’t lie.'” They swore I was lying. Time will tell if Uzi Vert decides to sign with another record label and call it quits, like Frank Ocean did before them.
