Texas Forest Hill residents feel safer today after authorities arrested a second suspect on charges of brutal murder of G $ lil Ronnie and his 5-year-old daughter R’Mani.
Jakobie Russell, 21, volunteered to turn to the U.S. Marshal accompanied by his attorney.
He was immediately booked at the Tarrant County Jail and faces charges of murder. If convicted, Russell and his alleged associates will face the death penalty under Texas law.
The tragic double shooting took place on Monday, March 3, usually in a quiet local car wash in Forest Hill, where a community is not used to violence of this scale.
Forest Hill Police Chief David Hernandez acknowledged the potential link between G $ lil Ronnie’s music career and violence, noting that investigators are scrutinizing his lyrics and online presence to get a glimpse of possible clues.
“This is all part of the investigation based on the music industry he is involved in,” Hernandez explained. “The Texas Rangers are reviewing and analyzing everything, so we don’t have any specific motivations at the moment.”
Authorities have not yet publicly detailed the contribution of the rapper’s music that could lead to the tragedy, but Hernandez confirmed that the investigation is still active and detectives are exploring all possible angles.
The first suspect was also charged with the death penalty and had been arrested before, and Russell’s surrender completed a search of the two people that authorities believed were responsible for causing a terrorist crime.
