Details of Lil Poppa’s funeral have been finalized. The late rapper’s sister recently announced that Poppa’s funeral will be held this weekend.
Lil Poppa’s sister Orieon Wheeler announced on social media on Tuesday (March 3) that the late rapper’s funeral will be held on Saturday (March 7) at Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church in his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. Security will be tightened inside the church and no cell phones, Meta glasses or recording devices will be allowed. Additionally, no handbags or purses are allowed on the venue.
For those unable to attend, Orieon announced on Wednesday (March 4) that Poppa’s funeral will be live-streamed on the rapper’s YouTube channel. The service is expected to start at 10 a.m.
Lil Poppa died from a gunshot wound to the head on February 18, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office. Florida Rhymes dies after a car accident.
Toie Roberts, the mother of Lil Poppa’s three-year-old son Kofi J’nar, shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram page about the grief of losing Poppa, born Janarious Mykel Wheeler.
“No words can describe the pain, thoughts and ongoing heartbreak of it all,” she wrote in part. “Our reality was changing before my eyes. I kept wondering how you could be so eager to leave us, so suddenly, so excruciatingly.”
Despite her grief, Toy wrote that she found comfort in the memories they shared and in her love for her son, Kofi.
“Gianaris, [I] Got Janal. You continue to rest. [I] Hope you find the peace you have been looking for,” Toy wrote. “We’ll be fine. [Thank] You are everything for me, from the bottom of your heart. [Blue heart emoji] We love you so much and we will miss you endlessly throughout our lives! [teary-eyed emoji and wing emoji]”.
