A man arrested on suspicion of plotting to kill Quindo Rondo has filed for a protection order in an ongoing murder-for-hire case.
Kavon Grant seeks protection order
Lawyers for Kavon Grant, one of the five partners in Lil Durk’s Only The Family group, filed a motion seeking a protective order in the shocking indictment on Tuesday (December 3), citing concerns about leaks during the trial. Sensitive information may endanger witnesses. The information includes protected witness statements, autopsy reports and crime scene photos. Both the prosecutor and the judge in the case agreed.
“The protective order for this discovery is necessary to enable the government to provide the defense with materials concerning protected witnesses who are involved in government investigations, who may testify at trial, and/or whose safety may be threatened by the disclosure of identifying information,” Judge Michelle Fitzgerald responded to the motion on Wednesday (December 4). “Because these materials could be used to identify a protected witness, the court considers that the unauthorized dissemination or distribution of these materials may expose him/her to potential security risks and dangers of witness intimidation.”
The defense and prosecutors have agreed to review the information when necessary and not to make the information available to anyone outside the case.
