Lecrae has responded to Kendrick Lamar’s shout-out with a new song titled “Die For the Party.”
A few days ago, K. Dot unexpectedly released a new song, unofficially titled “Watch the Party Die,” in which he mentions the Christian rapper by name with the lyrics:
“I wonder what Lecrae would do?” the Anomaly rapper responded to Kendrick via an impromptu performance on Instagram, and Lecrae’s energetic verse was equally impactful: “I was wrestling, like, I should write A poem? / The culture here has enough clout-chasing vultures trying to prove their worth / They need attention, they can’t imagine me not trying to make myself look bigger / Me Can’t imagine his position.
Lecrae’s version mirrors Kendrick’s lyrics, who incorporated his own life experiences into the song. “I didn’t want to respond at first. I didn’t want to sound like a power-seeking guy, but when Dot said my name, people reminded me that the world was listening and I was responsible,” he raps. Listen below.
