Lauren London revisits the series of events that brought her and Nipsey Hussle into each other’s lives, explaining that it all started with a purchase.
In an episode of the Crying With Rahdi Devluki podcast released on Tuesday (September 10), the actress recounted their meeting after their attempts to contact Rahdi Devluki failed.
“I do remember how we met,” she began. “I was on set and he put on this Crenshaw mixtape and all the ladies on the set were listening to it and it was like a charm. They were all from L.A. and we were shooting in Atlanta. I thought, if I put on his mixtape and all the Crenshaw stuff, that would be cool. I contacted my friend Danny and asked, ‘Hey, do you know Nip? Can you contact me and see if I can get some? Discounts on these items because I kind of buy in bulk.
“Nip never reached out; his management contacted my friend. And I didn’t get a discount. So, I thought, ‘Well, I guess he’s not going to try to give it to me, and that’s fine. But I bought these things and wrapped gifts for the girls. I ended up following him on…I don’t even know what social media, my memory is so weird, maybe twitter? He DMed me and said, ‘Hey, thank you for the support. Send me your measurements so I can send you a personal box.’ And then he gave me his phone number and I gave it to him. Texting, because I was like, I don’t send private messages.
When asked by host Devluchi if she thought her late partner was cute at the time, London admitted she had an ulterior motive behind her decision to follow him on social media.
“Yeah, I thought he was nice. First of all, my attention was so…he took the bait.

Earlier this year, Lauren London paid a heartbreaking tribute to Nipsey Hussle on the fifth anniversary of his murder.
On March 31, the You People star took to Instagram to express that she had been dreading this day throughout March, the day the rapper was killed in 2019 in front of his Marathon clothing store.
“If you know me, you know March is always hard for me,” she wrote. “I held my breath for 31 days. This day was decided on Easter Sunday in 2024. The energy never dies. I love you. Eternal.
Nipsey Hussle’s killer, Eric Holder Jr., was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison by a Los Angeles judge in February 2023, eight months after he was convicted of shooting the rapper.
Holder, 33, allegedly became enraged when Nipsey accused him of being a snitch during a brief conversation outside a South Los Angeles clothing store. He returned a short time later with two weapons and shot the Crenshaw rapper at least 10 times, fatally wounding him.
“I don’t want to give people the misconception that I’m calm and I’m walking on clouds,” London told People magazine months after the verdict, as she reflected on her partner’s death.
“I have to wake up every day with this intention because some days I don’t want to do it and I’m angry about it. That’s what healing is about. It’s up and down, left and right, everywhere. You know what I mean? Every new Each level will bring something new.
