Kodak Black’s lawyers forced shooting victim to withdraw $10 million lawsuit without paying any settlement.
Kodak Black scored a major legal victory as attorneys representing two shooting victims withdrew their $10 million lawsuit against the Florida rapper without paying any settlement money.
The case stems from an incident that occurred outside The Nice Guy restaurant in Los Angeles on February 12, 2022, after a Super Bowl LVI weekend party hosted by Justin Bieber.
Mark Shafer and Adam Lachman claim Kodak Black escalated tensions, leading to a shooting that left them and the rapper himself injured.
Kodak Black suffered a leg injury, while Schaeffer and Rahman were injured after the rapper allegedly instigated the violence.
Kodak’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, issued a scathing statement to TMZ about the case being dismissed.
“This lawsuit filed by Gloria Allred is probably the stupidest, most ridiculous lawsuit I have ever read,” Cohen said. “Like I said, they’re not going to get a dime when this stupid lawsuit is filed.”
Cohen revealed that his legal strategy was to issue an ultimatum to opposing counsel rather than negotiate any financial settlement.
Justin Bieber was initially named as a co-defendant in the original indictment, but the lawsuit was dismissed months after it was filed. The pop star’s legal team successfully argued that he was not responsible for the violence that broke out at the event.
Gloria Allred, whose law firm represents the plaintiffs, has not yet responded to a request for comment about the case being dropped. The dismissal prevents similar claims related to the 2022 shooting from being refiled in the future.
Cohen concluded his statement with a warning to other attorneys who are considering filing similar cases against his clients.
“This should be a warning and a lesson to d#### lawyers filing lawsuits, come to us for our clients and we will come to you,” he said.
