Kim Kardashian is playing the villain of Amazon Mgm’s upcoming live performance movie as the studio takes advantage of the Hollywood toy-to-screen trend triggered by Barbie in 2023.
The project is still in early development, but it has attracted attention due to Kardashian’s cast and the lasting popularity of the Bratz brand, which has sold more than 200 million dolls worldwide since its debut in 2001.
Kim Kardashian’s role marks her script performance following her performance on American Horror Story: Fine and Paw Patrol: Powerful Movies and adds a new dimension to her growing entertainment portfolio.
Amazon MGM reportedly gained the right to the film during a competitive bidding process, hoping to take advantage of the same cultural energy that made Barbie dolls the box office.
According to Variety, Bratz dolls maintain strong online engagement, making it a leading candidate for the film revival. The film was produced in collaboration with Picturestart and MGA Entertainment, the company behind the original doll.
Writers Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick are writing the script, while Erik Feig and Julia Hammer will be producing under Picturestart.
No release date or other casting details have been confirmed.
