Baby Kia, the 18-year-old rapper from Atlanta, is making waves in the world of music, captivating audiences with his raw, unfiltered style. His aggressive tone and chaotic delivery have earned him a dedicated fanbase, but his journey to success hasn’t been easy. Born K’Hari Hoard, Kia’s life has been filled with personal struggles, but his determination to succeed in the rap game is pushing him to new heights.
Growing up in Atlanta’s Fulton County and Cleveland Avenue—neighborhoods known for producing some of the industry’s most legendary artists—Kia was introduced to music at an early age. His musical influences ranged from YoungBoy Never Broke Again to DMX, whose aggressive style and streetwise narratives shaped Kia’s approach to rap. But school wasn’t where Kia thrived; he was frequently kicked out or skipping classes. “I’m a little bothered, so it’s hard for me to stay in my seat,” he shared, referencing his troubled school days.
The turning point came at 16 when Kia began experimenting with music on the BandLab platform. Initially, his passion waned as he chased other avenues for success, working at McDonald’s and Papa John’s. However, by 2022, a friend reignited his love for rap, and Kia began recording again, eventually releasing his first EP, World. Despite some initial negative reactions, he pushed forward, pouring his chaotic energy into the project.
Kia’s lyrics often reflect themes of death, violence, and survival, mirroring the struggles he’s faced in his personal life. In 2023, after being arrested and spending time in a juvenile facility for assault charges, Kia realized he needed to change his path. This experience led to the creation of his Glaah Glaah Boom EP and eventually his signing with Artist Partner Group (APG) in late 2023.
His collaboration with manager Jamil Mitchell and APG A&R Shareef “Reef” Stradford has propelled Kia into the spotlight. Stradford, who discovered Kia on Instagram, recognized his unique style, saying, “You’ll hear a hundred artists’ voices and his voice will reach out to the greatest extent.” Kia’s mix of fearlessness and creativity has set him apart from the crowd.
With his mixtape Hell Can’t Save You and his upcoming projects, Baby Kia is poised for an even bigger 2025. His personal growth, alongside his burgeoning music career, demonstrates his resilience and determination to rise above his past. Kia’s vision is clear: “I’m not competing with others except myself,” he says, as he prepares to drop more projects, including his debut album.
But despite his growing fame, Kia remains focused on self-improvement. In addition to his music, he’s committed to earning his GED, proving that he’s not just a product of his environment but someone willing to break free from it. He reflects, “I’m trying to get my life together… I’m always trying to get rid of [my troubles], one by one.”
As Baby Kia’s career continues to rise, his story stands as a testament to the power of perseverance, creativity, and self-reinvention in the face of adversity. His journey is just beginning, and the world is watching closely.
