He switches between more traditional Atlanta hip-hop and grunge styles with ease. On the latest song, Mason operates more in his rap bag, bringing it back to the artist’s roots.
“HOODRAT” has a spacious beat with a muddy vocal sample, making this song something that Clams Casino would have produced if he were interested in using 808s to make the beat. Kenny Mason’s vocals are more direct and aggressive, contrasting with the background music produced by FearDorian. Mason took the song’s title to heart in the lyrics. He raps about growing up with “hoodrats,” his childhood dreams of making money, and people’s reactions to him living on the streets.
