If Young Thug and YSL’s RICO incident has taught the hip-hop community anything, it’s that rap lyrics are under attack. While this is nothing new, now rappers could end up in jail for their exaggerated depictions of wax (the damn rap bill hasn’t passed yet). Youthful behavior is attracting attention. While Kenny Mason’s tracks won’t change, his visuals certainly will.
For his song “Easy Dub,” which features Baby Drill from Mason’s latest album 9 , he took some creative liberties with his official visualizer. Mason teamed up with director Michael Jane and visual effects artist Liam Archibald to bring a gritty tone to the beloved video game series The Sims.
As Mason raps: “N****s is hatin’, that’s part of growing up/Ain’t no complaining, that’s part of the pledge/No, we don’t know where your bag went/Ain’t no no as far as I know “Know, arrange/We ain’t gonna play this shit/I can afford to stay in this asshole/I got a mighty K in the whip,” his animated mascot performs the fight – much like the act outlined in the bar.
The visualizer follows the fictional incarnations of Mason and Drill through a wild night on the Ridge. Well, that’s one way to circumvent YouTube’s community guidelines.
