Mutual friends Kendrick Lamar and Playboi Carti just gave two fans what they want, but exactly what they don’t need: hope. Additionally, after a fan suggested to Hitta that they should collaborate, he said, “Bet we can get it done at the right time.” For those who don’t know, he’s a long-time member of both MCs , although this obviously does not 100% confirm that his words are gospel. Still, it did fuel rumors of a new album from the creatives, which have followed Cardi for four years and Kendrick for two.
Of course, in the case of Kendrick Lamar, the hype for a new album looks very different due to his Drake wars and West Coast resurgence. This might just be another launch attempt for Playboi Carti, but it’s certainly his most complete effort since 2020’s Whole Lotta Red. Wait for it to leave fans foaming at the mouth. All we can hope for this Hitta update is that if they do cross over, they’ll execute it creatively, purposefully, and in an exciting and fresh way.
Could Kendrick Lamar and Playboi Carti collaborate one day?
After all, Kendrick Lamar and Playboi Carti are both great artists, and while there are some similarities, their skills are very different. Think of K.Dot’s vocal energy on TPAB, Mr. Morale, and more. Far. Perhaps these artists are losing their chance as fans become more impatient, disillusioned and disinterested. But the collaboration is sure to change that conversation, especially since the Atlanta Fury icon just dropped off a recent Drake collaboration…
Meanwhile, Playboi Carti recently debuted new material on The Weeknd, and Kendrick Lamar rumors are still rife. We don’t know what the collaboration will sound like or if it will work. But both rappers possess the creative and artistic drive needed to build bridges with like-minded people and make magic happen. If they can connect and find any common ground, the result could be a generational passing of the torch from one sonic chameleon to another. Or just plain sausage; both will do.
