Kendrick Lamar is getting free food for life at the Compton burger joint featured in the “Not Like Us” video.
On Thursday (July 11), TMZ spoke with Spiro Vovos, owner of the Compton location of Tam’s Burgers. Vovos, whose father owns the chain, previously told the outlet that business had jumped 40 percent since the video was released on July 4.
In a new conversation, the younger Walworth said that even though traffic has returned to its normal pace, they’re still very grateful for the opportunity and will now always have the Compton rapper choose their menu.
They also erected a mural on the side of the building dedicated to the song.
In the film, Kendrick Lamar and Mustard drive up to Tam’s in a Lambo and spend some time on and off the set. The owners, who have known Kendrick since they were teenagers, didn’t charge a fee for the shoot but just struck a deal to have their logo prominently featured in the video.
Last Thursday night, K.Dot released the highly anticipated video for his hit song “Not Like Us,” which featured several Easter eggs aimed at his fierce rival.
Drake’s OVO logo provides Kendrick with plenty of ammunition, as he’s seen opening an owl-shaped piñata with a broom handle and staring menacingly at the owl locked in a cage.
Another scene shows him dancing with fiancée Whitney Alford and their two children to a song produced by Mustard, as they are dragged into a fight by Drake.
The clip, a more subtle dig at Drizzy, was co-directed and guest-starred by Kendrick’s longtime manager Dave Free, who has been accused of possibly being one of his pgLang costars The child’s father.
As of this writing, the music video has been viewed more than 49 million times in one week.
