Drake is better equipped. “Not Like Us” has already topped the Billboard Hot 100. It also became the theme song for Kendrick Lamar’s signature Juneteenth show, “Pop Out.” Now, a music video is coming. Lamar has yet to provide fans with a proper release date, but he has released some teaser images. Not surprisingly, they are perfect. They set the right tone for the song while teasing Drake in new and unexpected ways.
The most concentrated taunting came from the OVO piñata. Of the four teaser photos released, one features Kendrick Lamar slamming a piñata shaped like Drake’s iconic owl logo. There’s not much subtlety in the photo, but it definitely works. If the point of the photo is missing, it will have a disclaimer at the bottom. The disclaimer reads rather dryly: “No OVOH*es were harmed in the making of this video.” It’s not hard to imagine all the memes and gifs that will be made once the “Not Like Us” video is released picture.
Kendrick Lamar reunites with black hipster in music video
Other photos also provide interesting insights into the music video. Kendrick Lamar’s fiancée Whitney Alford appeared with the rapper and their children. Lamar also called on the entire TDE staff to show support. Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul flanking their black hippie brothers. Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffeys and Punch also make guest appearances, proving that their relationship with Lamar is still going strong. Other images are more abstract and may make more sense in the context of a music video. This is especially striking in the photo of Lamar sitting in a white room, surrounded by people wearing paint.
Drake’s body continued to take hits. Not only did the Toronto rapper have to sit back and watch Dot triumph, but his recently released album struggled commercially. Drake’s collaboration with Camila Cabello was high-profile, but their debut did little on the Billboard charts. “Hot Uptown,” the lead single from Cabello’s new album, debuted at No. 92 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. . Meanwhile, “Not Like Us” remains in third place.
