Keke Palmer stopped her inner huge fans while working with Eddie Murphy in Pickup scenes, a new heist comedy that is now played in Prime video, opting for professionalism rather than using questions to make the comedy legend picky.
The actress, known for her roles in Screaming Queens and Nope, told Entertainment Weekly that she and co-star Pete Davidson made a conscious effort to avoid curiosity over his decades of career overwhelming Murphy.
“I asked him questions and questions, but it was kind of like being with a wise sage, so I didn’t want to overuse it,” Palmer said. “Peter and I kept talking about it, where – you want to know a lot, you can interview him every day, but you also want to respect that it’s not an interview, it’s his job, we’re working. So I really want to be as professional as possible.”
Palmer grew up watching Murphy’s iconic film with his father, and he said his work had deep personal significance. But it wasn’t until the news tour that she had a deeper connection with the police star in Beverly Hills.
“After the movie, when you spend more time off the scene, obviously, you do get familiar with people, and I think I started to see Eddie really made me get as much as I got him,” she said. “It’s really cool because when we do the news, he said I reminded him of him. I didn’t know he was looking at me, or he knew me, and it really moved me.”
Murphy’s keen comedy timing is paired with a new generation of talent and can be streamed in Prime videos at this time.
