Kehlani isn’t concerned about her former YG costar’s relationship with her friend and collaborator Saweetie.
In a chat with Hot 97 posted on Tuesday (June 25), the Bay Area native opened up about her relationship with the pair after host Nessa praised her as a “cool” ex.
“Since I’m a lesbian, why should I care about my male ex?” the 29-year-old said with a laugh. “I also don’t care what my ex is doing – male, female, anything. My goal is for everyone to be happy. Even when I’m with someone, if we decide we’re unhappy with each other, we really don’t We should be together and we should be with those who make us happy. I love Saweetie!
“I think she’s cute and great. We sing a song together. We hang out. She’s cool. They make sense. It’s like knowing both of them, I’m like, you know what? I really Love this. I told him, ‘I love this so much. You guys look so cute together.
Kehlani also pointed out that she’s not the jealous type, adding, “I’m very proud of it, frankly. That would be embarrassing. If it bothers me, you’ll never know! That’s why I only throw Pour it once.
YG and Kehlani were romantically linked back in 2019, when the Compton native was spotted getting close to another woman at a nightclub. Although he later claimed he was drunk and still “loved” Kehlani, they soon broke up.
YG and Saweetie seemed to be together in 2023, or at least they made their relationship public then, but they’ve been on-and-off since then.
Following news of their breakup earlier this year, the “FDT” rapper left a “good hands” emoji in the comments section of a gym selfie Kehlani posted. Soon after, he noted that “the only block [he was] tryna spin” is Saweetie’s show.
A few months later, YG launched the “My Type” rapper and publicly expressed his feelings for her in front of a packed crowd at the Rolling Loud Music Festival in Los Angeles.
Although the two didn’t perform together, they shared a brief moment on stage and clarified their romance.
“Do I look good?” Saweetie asked as the audience cheered her on, before YG got very close to her and replied, “Yeah, you’re good.”
As she walked away, the Southern California native walked behind her and repeatedly said, “I love you, girl,” to which she responded, “I love you too, baby.”
