KAYTRANADA calls on Childish Gambino, Anderson .Paak and more to help him release his latest album, Timeless , which you can check out below.
The album, released on Friday (June 7), is the Canadian’s first new solo album in five years.
Pink Pantheress, Tinashe, Dawn Richard and Don Toliver also played their part on the album.
The song “Drip Sweat” featuring Channel Tres was released as a single earlier this week; the songs “Stuntin” and “Lover/Friend” sung by Rochelle Jordan will appear on the street for the first time in November 2023.
Kaitranada recently made headlines for thanking Freddie Gibbs for his support.
The Montreal-based producer publicly admitted he was gay in an interview with The FADER ahead of the release of his 2016 debut album 99.9%.
In the interview, the producer and DJ revealed that he came out as bisexual to his mother and sister when he was 16, but never mentioned it again.
“There were so many emotions at the same time,” he told the publication. “I was like, ‘Oh, that’s cool,’ and at the same time I was like, ‘Oh, what does mom think?’ We’re Haitian, and Haitians don’t appreciate gay people at all. I think it might be a phase.
KAYTRANADA was in a long-term relationship with a woman, which ended in 2015.
Shortly before the release of his new album, KAYTRANADA sat down with Rolling Stone to talk about his sexuality, among other topics.
He said the support Gibbs gave him gave him “hope” of being accepted by the music industry – especially hip-hop.
“I don’t think many people still know that I’m gay. Even with the story,” he said. “Freddie Gibbs was one of the first artists to say, ‘I’m proud of you, man, keep doing your thing.'” I thought that was crazy. This gives me hope.
He continued: “Now, Lil Nas [Dogg] Performing at Pride in Los Angeles with Dr. Dre, it was crazy.
Freddie Gibbs saw a post about KAYTRANADA’s quote on X (formerly Twitter) and replied: “That’s my real life friend.”
