Big Sean has certainly dominated the news cycle over the past 24 hours. The rapper released an “On the Radar” freestyle on July 16, and it doesn’t seem to hurt. Fans then started tearing apart the bar and speculating that Sean might be targeting another rapper. Kendrick Lamar’s name was brought up, then outed. Kanye West was mentioned after DJHed claimed Sean was targeting a Gemini rapper. The possibility of a Western diss proved enough to disrupt Big Sean’s entire album rollout.
On July 17th alone, a user named bigseandon811 posted new material from Big Sean’s album. The document comes with a message clarifying why they chose to block the rapper’s debut. To the surprise of no one, this has to do with Kanye West. “Since he disrespected Ye so much, this is the album,” the user wrote. “Fuck him and his whole team.” Other users questioned whether the recording was legitimate, but bigseandon811 provided some additional information. They clarified that Sean’s lead single “Precision” was on the album but not in the leaked documents.
Big Sean leaker claims Ye gave him his blessing
To further prove the authenticity of the leak, the user listed some of Big Sean’s features. “This is an album from a few months ago,” they explain. “Featuring Nas, Dream, Jhene and a few others.” They even delivered another album called: Better Me Than You. The files and messages have since been deleted, but not before several fans downloaded the album themselves. Bigseandon811 also claimed that West was the one who urged him to leak the album. If true, this would be brutal revenge since Kanye West was the one who ruined his relationship with Big Sean in the first place.
West appeared on Drink Champs in 2021 and claimed that signing Sean to GOOD Music was the “worst thing” he has ever done. Big Sean took the criticism in stride, but later said he was deeply hurt by West’s comments. “At first, I thought it was funny. I thought it was funny,” he said during his Drinks Champions appearance. “Then I took it away [personally]Things only got worse from there. He told the host that West owed him $6 million, as well as ownership rights to his owner. The leak, while not orchestrated by Ye himself, did nothing to calm things down.
