Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign released their latest album, VULTURES 2 , last week to mixed reactions.
Sample purges, streaming removals, and rumors that Kanye West used artificial intelligence (AI) to complete some of the lyrics—the album has been a contentious issue since its release. Kanye and Ty’s joint album was initially expected to sell 83,000 copies in its first week, but the final numbers were better.
The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 107,000 copies in its first week, approximately 60,000 of which came from pure sales.
Kanye’s first week sales are definitely down. “Jesus Is King” and “DONDA” sold 264,000 units and 309,000 units respectively in the first week, while VULTURES sold 148,000 units in the first week.
