Judge Paige Reese Whitaker, who is white, apologized for using the n-word during the YSL RICO trial on Friday (November 8). As Young Thug’s trial continued, the judge read the words “n###### missing” aloud as he discussed the evidence.
“Before we had lunch, we had a bunch of conversations on Instagram,” she said. “I read one of them out loud and basically said it as my eyes first ran over it and read what was on the page. I read out the word ‘nigger,’ and I hope that didn’t offend anyone. This is of course not intended to offend anyone. I don’t use that word. It’s just that – whatever I say out loud, I should see if there are any offensive words before I say it. Therefore, I would like to formally apologize for this.
Young Thug’s co-defendants Yak Gotti and Shannon Stillwell remain on trial. Young Thug, Quamarvious Nichols, Rodalius Ryan and Marquavius Huey accepted plea deals in October.

Judge Whitaker sentenced Young Thug to 40 years in prison and five years in prison, but commuted the sentence to time served. He was released after serving more than two years in prison. He must remain on probation for 15 years.
Young Thug is on strict probation. With limited exceptions, including weddings, funerals and court-ordered community service, he must stay away from Atlanta for 10 years. He cannot be associated with any of the defendants in the RICO case except for his brother Unfoonk and rapper Gunna. If Young Thug violates his probation, he could spend 20 years in prison.
Prosecutors say they will wrap up their cases against Jacques Gotti and Stillwell before Thanksgiving, concluding the longest trial in Georgia history.
